After reports the Wii U will end production at the end of November and the Japanese Nintendo website confirming the Wii U production is coming to an end, Nintendo of America has confirmed the perceived inevitable.
Here’s a statement provided by Nintendo of America.
“We can confirm that as of today, all Wii U hardware that will be made available in the North American market for this fiscal year has already been shipped to our retail partners. We encourage anyone who wants Wii U to communicate with their preferred retail outlet to monitor availability.”
After a Nintendo spokesperson denied the Eurogamer reports of a Wii U production stoppage, it seems the company has changed its outlook.
With the Nintendo Switch releasing March of 2017, it was only a matter of time before the Wii U production was scaled back or stopped altogether.
No new game titles outside of the 2016 holiday season were announced and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , which will release in 2017, was announced as a dual release for both the Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
So what do you think now that it has finally been confirmed that the Wii U production has stopped? Let us know in the comments section below.
