'Nioh' Trailer Introduces Hanzō Ally In New 4K Clip

A new trailer for Nioh debuted this week, featuring another NPC from the upcoming action RPG, and those of you with expensive monitors might like to know it features another 66 seconds of 4K footage. There isn’t any memorable gameplay in the Nioh video; however, it does feature an appearance from Okatsu, the (fictitious) female ninja loyal to Hattori Hanzō.

This week’s clip is the second in as many months to eschew action-oriented gameplay in favor of a brief conversation between Nioh characters. Last month, fans saw a brief chat between William, the English samurai who fills the role of protagonist, and Hanzō, a legendary ninja who helped pave the way for the Tokugawa shogunate’s rule of Japan. Now, Koei Tecmo is giving the Nioh community a sneak peak at a conversation between William and Okatsu.

There isn’t much here we didn’t know already -- William is a drunk and doesn’t make a great first impression -- but it’s still a nice bit of character building plucked from the campaign. It’s also going to seem a bit more informative if you aren’t the type to follow every minor story that leaks out while a game you’re anticipating is still in development.

To see more of Nioh, take a minute to watch the latest trailer from Koei Tecmo. Then head down to the comments section and let us know who/what you’re hoping to see in Nioh when the game debuts early next month.

Nioh is in development for PlayStation 4. The game debuts Feb. 7, 2017.
