The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Hideo Kojima’s recent meeting seems to suggest the pair might be teaming up for a new project.
Before you get excited, Reedus and Kojima have not confirmed they are working on reviving Silent Hills or any project together. Reedus was set to play the unnamed protagonist in the official Silent Hills game. Kojima only shared a photo of his meeting with Reedus on his official Twitter account, during which he “updated” The Walking Dead actor on his company. Reedus also shared the logo for Kojima’s new company, Kojima Productions.
However, this hasn’t stopped fans from jumping on the Silent Hills hype. Kojima fans were disappointed when Konami canceled the game back in April 2015. Fans created a petition to get Konami to resurrect the Silent Hills project that gained more than 190,000 signatures . Kojima’s Silent Hills P.T. demo became the inspiration for many horror games out now, including Layers of Fear .
Reedus spoke to IGN in November 2015 about the cult following of the Silent Hills P.T. demo. The Walking Dead actor never expected fans to feel strongly enough about the game’s cancellation to generate campaigns to bring the game back to life.
"The internet buzz about [ Silent Hills ] happening was so huge,” Reedus told IGN. “I've never seen anything like it; petitions with a hundred thousand people that signed it, petitions to please make it happen, that's crazy. That's a crazy fanbase for not just that video game but also those people making that video game, and for me to jump on that truck with them, I was like, 'Holy balls. It has to happen. You need to do this.'"
Reedus told IGN at the time he had “faith” something would happen with the Silent Hills franchise in the future. There’s also the possibility Reedus and Kojima are working on a project unrelated to Silent Hills , but let’s keep the hope alive.
