The first trailer for The Occupation , a new “politically driven, first person, narrative game set in 1980’s North-West England” being developed by the fine folks at White Paper Games, is now online. There are still plenty of unanswered questions about the game, mostly pertaining to its world, but all we really want to know is what platform(s) The Occupation will appear on.
To be fair, White Paper Games does at least explain the lack of platform information in the game’s press kit. According to the studio, the Occupation announcement arrived sans-platform data “not because this is undisclosed information” but because White Paper hasn’t discussed The Occupation with the Big Three. Presumably, that means they haven’t been in contact with Valve about a Steam listing either. The studio says it wants to release The Occupation on “as many platforms as possible” but the final count will depend on interest from console makers.
As for its story, The Occupation casts players as a whistle-blowing journalist; one whose closest friends and loved ones may not support his actions. The announcement trailer suggests immigration will play a major role in The Occupation , as will acts of terror and civil unrest, and the subject matter virtually guarantees a fair amount of deception and uncertainty. But we’re definitely looking forward to finding out what this is all about when The Occupation debuts.
For an early look at The Occupation , take a few minutes to watch the announcement trailer (embedded up top) from White Paper Games. Then head down to the comments and let us know which platform(s) you’d like to see The Occupation on at launch.
