The Overwatch development team has to stop being so nice because they are just spoiling us now. In the last Halloween update, Mercy was given a special voice line for the Junkenstein Brawl. When the AI Witch Mercy uses her ultimate in the final wave of the map, she says “my servants never die” instead of her classic line “heroes never die.”
After a lengthy thread on the Battle.net forums asking for this line to be included on her Halloween skin, we got an official answer. Jeff Kaplan, the lead director of Overwatch who I write more nice things about than any other person or video game, posted a simple yet concrete answer: “Ok, ETA Mid-Nov.” After Kaplan’s latest Developer Update we know that there’s a patch coming in mid-November with Symmetra buffs and quite possibly a new map.
There isn’t a game on the internet with a development team as committed to their fans as Overwatch. You can tell that Kaplan and his merry band of developers just want to make the community happy, while trying not to fall victim to creating stuff solely for fan service. There have been some hiccups along the way, looking at you Tracer’s butt , but overall the community interaction has been top notch.
Now all Blizzard has to do is give me the Viking Torbjorn skin teased in the Halloween comic and my entire Halloween wish list will be complete.
