Genji and Hanzo can both jump to crash servers Blizzard

Overwatch players beware: if you use the Genji/ Hanzo exploit and crash your game, Blizzard will ban you. On certain maps, when you jump with the ninjas in a certain spot, you can crash the game’s servers. The game essentially can’t figure out where the ninjas actually are or where they should go and crashes the game, kicking everyone back to the lobby with a “the server closed due to an unexpected error” message.

Reddit user Ranchoddas said that he used the exploit a couple of times and Blizzard shut down his account permanently. Players have been using this exploit to disconnect games in Competitive Play that they are losing. Famous streamer, Dyrus , kept lagging and disconnecting from his Overwatch games, though at the time he thought he was getting “drophacked” or that someone was using third-party software to disconnect him from the game.

I’m not going to say how to replicate the glitch here – if you want it that badly you can Google it. Overwatch is still in its infancy and is full of players desperate for ranked wins. Blizzard is doing the smart thing by banning anyone caught using this cheat; making sure that the game’s competitive integrity is kept intact is priority number one. Nobody wants to play a game just to have it lag out and disconnect.

Because Overwatch is so new and popular, players have been able to find exploits pretty quickly. Now that Competitive Play is out and these games have higher stakes, Blizzard has to be quick to get rid of them. Right after the official launch of the game, players figured out that you could hide Symmetra turrets inside a bridge that couldn’t be targeted . They patched that exploit out in the next patch, but didn’t ban anyone who used it.

There will always be salty players who would rather crash a game then take a loss, don’t be one of them.
