Pokémon Bank Update: Gen 1 Transfers Explained But Still No Release Date

While Pokémon fans wait patiently for the release of the Pokémon Bank update, the Hong Kong Pokémon website released new screenshots and information regarding how transfering Pokémon from Red, Blue and Yellow will work.

According to Serebii, which translated the website, here is what players should expect when transferring their Gen 1 Pokémon to Sun and Moon:

  • Every Pokémon transferred with have a minimum of 3 max IVs
  • Nature will be random.
  • There’s a chance that the Pokémon will have its Hidden Ability
  • Pokémon transferred from Red, Blue or Yellow will have a special GameBoy mark next to them.
  • The National PokeDex will sync with the games you use with Pokémon Bank (X and Y, ORAS) and will list all the Pokémon you’ve seen/caught in all those games.
  • You can spend Battle Points.
  • Stats like eggs hatched, Pokémon caught etc. are tracked.

Unfortunately, the release date for the Pokémon Bank updat e was not listed on the website but with the promised January release window coming to an end, fans should expect the update shortly.

In the meantime, there is plenty to do while you wait. You can get your Pokémon from X and Y and ORAS ready to transfer, including your Legendary and Shiny Pokémon. And now with the details about the Gen 1 Pokémon, you can get those ready to go as well.
