The latest Pokémon Go update may be a small one but it changes the way trainers can catch Pokémon in the popular mobile game.

On the Niantic blog, the company revealed a new catching bonus update that increases the likelihood of catching Pokémon based on type. You know those achievements and medals you receive for catching one specific type of Pokémon? Well, those medals will now give you a catch rate bonus.

And according to the Pokémon Go b log, once you hit one tier you can continue to raise your catch rate by hitting a new tier every time. If a Pokémon has multiple types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying-type bonuses.

Trainers who are looking to have a better chance at that Snorlax can now find a reason to catch all of those Pidgey, Doduo and Rattata.

The new Catch Rate Bonus update for Pokémon Go has not been implemented for either iOS or Android but we will update as soon as it does.

In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on the new update in the comments section below.
