What’s the one item every aspiring Pokémon trainer needs in Pokémon Go ? Pokeballs. And the best place to get them (unless you want to pay for them , of course) is to venture out to the many PokeStops around you.
These PokeStops are locations based on various landmarks and monuments found near you.
They can be parks, schools, libraries and... fire hydrants? (Check the slideshow above to see what we mean) But anyways, you’ll find these PokeStops by the blue squares that fill your Pokémon Go maps. When you get close enough, you just spin the icon and various items will appear.
ITEMS
The items pop out at random, but some only appear after a certain level. For example, after you reach Level 5 and are ready to challenge Gyms you will receive Potions and Revives to heal your Pokémon.
There are other various items you’ll receive as you climb the ladder. Here are the items known so far, with many thanks to Serebii for the information.
BEGINNING: Pokémon Eggs and PokeBalls
Level 5: Potions, Revives and Raz Berries
Level 10: Super Potions
Level 12: Great Balls
Level 15: Hyper Potion
It should be noted that once you visit a PokeStopm you can’t visit it again for some time. We calculated the cooldown to be up to five minutes long. It’s not too bad, especially if you’re sitting in the office and racking up on PokeBalls for your commute home.
LURES
PokeStops can also be used as a hub for Pokémon catching. If you or a trainer wants to assign a Lure Modules to a PokeStop, then for that finite amount of time, anyone who is near the area will be swarmed with Pokémon.
So go out and explore some PokeStops and hopefully a generous trainer used a Lure so you can catch all the Pokémon.
But before you go, check out the slideshow at the top of the page with some silly “landmarks” around New York we found, and share your favorite PokeStops in the comments section below.
