A Halloween event has been announced for Pokémon Go Nintendo

A new Pokémon Go update will be get into the Halloween spirit this year, with a special event in the game starting on Oct. 26. Once the update is available, you might want to switch up your Buddy, because there's going to be more candy than if you went trick or treating in a wealthy neighborhood.

As mentioned in a blog post, the Pokémon Go Halloween event will begin on Oct. 26 and go to Nov. 1. During this time, any Pokémon caught will give out six candies instead of the regular three. Additionally, Pokémon hatched from eggs will be giving more candy than normal and Buddy Pokémon will be giving out candy four times faster than the usual rate. If there's a Pokémon you have that you want to evolve, you better make it your buddy before you go walking the streets, ringing doorbells and demanding Snickers and Kit Kats.

To really get into the holiday spirit, Pokémon Go will also have an increased rate of finding "spooky" Pokémon during the Halloween event. The Pokémon you'll be seeing more of include:

  • Zubat
  • Golbat
  • Gastly
  • Haunter
  • Gengar
  • Drowzee
  • Hypno

Personally, that's exciting. I haven't even seen a Drowzee while playing, let alone a Hypno. Getting more Ghastlies to evolve my own Gengar would be great as well.

The post ends by reminding Pokémon fans of all the other ways to celebrate a Pokémon-filled Halloween. Going to the Pokémon Halloween website will let you download Pokémon pumpkin carving stencils, see Pokémon costumes shared on social media and more. Be sure to share your own creations using the hashtag #PokemonHalloween.

So what do you think? Are you ready to get a cavity from all the candy you'll be getting in Pokémon Go? What other holiday events would you like to see come to the mobile game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
