When Pokémon Sun and Moon launched in November, only certain Mega Stones were available after the story was complete. Now, The Pokémon Company has explained how the rest of the Mega Stones will be distributed to those looking to buff their Pokémon in the Alola Region.
According to Serebii, Beedrillite and Mawilite will be distributed as an entry gift for an online competition in late February. The company went on to say that the other missing Mega Stones will also be distributed this way.
Beedrillite and Mawilite will power up Beedrill and Mawile, two Pokémon who were not competitively viable until their Mega Evolutions were introduced.
Although Mega Stones are illegal in the official Pokémon VGC format and in recent online competitions, they are still highly sought after in casual online battles to give trainers the edge in battle.
Sun and Moon did let trainers obtain Mega Stones in the post-game, mostly through purchase in the Battle Tree shop, there are still plenty of Mega Stones that were not included in the Gen 7 games.
The following Pokémon do not have their Mega Stones yet, but will eventually be brought over to Sun and Moon.
Pidgeot
Steelix
Sceptile
Blaziken
Swampert
Camerupt
Altaria
Lopunny
Gallade
