The first moments of Power Season 3 confirmed getting out of the game will be much harder than Ghost anticipated. Telling everyone, “Call me James,” Ghost genuinely attempts to wipe his slate clean, but the mess he left behind is coming back for him.
We quickly learn Lobos is not dead, which proves quite a problem for Ghost. This is good for Tommy, who still has a connect. However, this doesn't stop him from stalking Ghost outside Truth. Lobos’ deal with Tommy has one condition: Kill Ghost. However, when all of Lobos’ bank accounts are frozen, he gives Tommy the product anyway. When Tommy throws two men off a building, killing one, Julio runs to Ghost about Tommy’s rash decision making, mistakenly revealing Lobos is still alive.
Angela sees the whole interaction with Julio at Truth and confronts Ghost. After Ghost convinces her Julio's visit has nothing to do with old business and that he's done dealing for good. It's hard to tell if each character's knows they are lying to the other. Why would Angela tell Ghost that Lobos is still alive and he has nothing to worry about? Hopefully we'll find out more about Angela's true agenda in the next episode.
Tasha is completely in the dark about all of this. She’s handling Shawn’s death surprisingly well, but the kids not so much. Ghost tells her Kanan killed Shawn, but she doesn't believe him and she approaches Tommy who tells her nothing. Dre is anxious to move some weight, but Ghost is adamant that he needs to stay out the game.
Even though the club is the new hustle, Ghost is even more paranoid than before because he's worried about what's going on behind his back. With Greg after both Angela and Ghost, the detective stops by the club and briefly talks to Kantos stays loyal and doesn't budge.
Meanwhile, Ghost is still trying to find out who left the bloody Arana card in his office, and he’s narrowed it down to a worker named Tatiana. When Ghost decides to check on Tatiana, he finds a trail of blood and no body. While Ghost is out tying up loose ends, Dre looks for a tie in Ghost's office and comes across the bloody card. Ghost walks in just in time before he can get a good look.
Three very important events occur in the final moments of the episode. Ghost fires Kantos in the middle of a staff meeting to make an example out of him. Someone breaks into Tommy’s apartment and kills his dog. And the biggest twist of the episode: “We need to talk, man,” James says to Tommy. “It’s Ghost.”
