It seems like PlayStation 4 users are going to be blessed with not one, but two Predator titles, set for release in the near future.
The most recent State of Play was a big one for Sony, who looked to bounce back from the absolutely forgettable first iteration of State of Play back in March. Sony didn’t hold back, as we got to see a great lineup of both exclusive and multi-platform titles coming to the PlayStation 4. The most prominent games announced were the first look at the upcoming Iceborne DLC for Monster Hunter World, couch co-op title Riverbond, the remake of the PlayStation classic MediEvil, the nature-exploration title Away: The Survival Series and of course another look at the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake.
What was most surprising, though, is the announcement of an asymmetrical multiplayer title from Illfonic titled Predator: Hunting Grounds. Based on the movie series, Predator: Hunting Grounds pits a one-versus-all type game, wherein the group plays as elite soldiers trying to complete various tasks as they fend off the other single player, who controls the universe’s apex hunter, the Predator. It’s a PlayStation exclusive that received considerable attention, seeing that there aren’t many asymmetrical multiplayer games out there, and Illfonic is responsible for one of them already. The company also released Friday the 13th: The Game back in 2017.
However, leaked trophies for the PlayStation 4 suggests that this is not the only Predator title currently in development, and this new game may be coming sooner than we think. The site Exophase has all the trophy details of an upcoming Predator VR, a PlayStation VR title. Since trophies tend to be revealed as a game nears its release, it’s only natural to assume that Predator VR will be made available before Illfonic’s own Predator: Hunting Grounds.
Judging by the trophy descriptions, it looks like you will get to play as both a human soldier and a predator, and that the title will have both single-player and multiplayer elements. If all goes well, we could be looking at some more information drop for this Predator VR in the coming weeks, maybe even days.
In any case, Predator: Hunting Grounds is set for release exclusively on the PlayStation 4 some time in 2020.
