The Open Beta for Quantum League is now available on the PC through Steam. The Open Beta actually started last February 21 and is expected to run until March 2. Developed by Nimble Giant Entertainment, the game is an online first-person shooter that offers players 1v1 and 2v2 matches.
We know what you're probably thinking. "Okay, it's another FPS." But what makes Quantum League different from the rest of the games in the genre? Well, the game focuses on an alternate universe where time travel has changed what professional sports are all about. But that doesn't answer our question. Well, if the developers are to be believed, the game has players battle inside a time loop. This means players can team up with both their past, as well as their future selves.
Quantum League is the first major title to come from Nimble Giant after Master of Orion. In a statement, Vice-President of Development Jeronimo Barrera said that the innovation offered by the game, along with the quality of the execution, was what led him to be part of the studio. He had originally been part of Rockstar Games for 20 years. Barrera went on to say that Quantum League "is truly bringing something new, adding endless strategic depth and propelling the multiplayer FPS genre forward.”
So what does the Beta version offer? It's going to let players choose from four characters. For the 1v1 mode, players have the option of going against opponents in either the Quantum Arena or the Overpass one. For the 2v2 mode, it's going to be limited to the Quantum Stadium arenas. There's no question that the Beta version has limited features. However, the good news is that any progress and unlocks made in the beta are going to be carried to the main game once it's officially launched.
If you're interested, the game requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. Other minimum requirements include:

- Processor: 2.5+ GHz Quad core
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: GeForce GTX 750
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
