We finally have a concrete release date for Shadow Warrior 2, the cooperative, loot-based sequel to the franchise’s 2013 reboot, and PC gamers should be pleased to hear the game is headed to Steam several months before Shadow Warrior 2 arrives on PS4 or Xbox One.

Confirmation of the Shadow Warrior 2 release date comes courtesy of the game’s latest trailer, published on Friday morning, which kicked off a wave of announcements that coincide with the first day of PAX West. Despite claims from a Devolver Digital employee, who suggested we’d see Shadow Warrior 2 later this month, it turns out beloved antihero Lo Wang won’t make his glorious return until mid-October. The news is a bit disappointing, particularly if there aren’t any other big games on your radar this month, but PC gamers should probably just be happy they don’t have to wait as long as the console crowd.

According to Devolver Digital, Shadow Warrior 2 won’t make the jump to PS4 and Xbox One until sometime next year. There’s no firm timeline for the launch but the publisher says console ports of SW2 should arrive in “early 2017.” It’s not clear why the console builds need so much more time in the oven but, if we had to guess, we’d bet Flying Wild Hog started work on the PC version first and pivoted to consoles once it became clear there was an audience for the game outside of Steam.

For more on Shadow Warrior 2, including a closer look at some of the people, places and things we’ll see in the upcoming sequel, take a few minutes to watch the Shadow Warrior 2 trailer that debuted this morning. Then head down to the comments section and let us know whether or not you’re looking forward to the debut of Shadow Warrior 2.

Shadow Warrior 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game hits Steam on Oct. 13 with a console debut currently pegged for early 2017.
