New details on the upcoming console ports of Shadow Warrior 2 trickled out this week, courtesy of an interview with a member of Flying Wild Hog’s press team, but the latest word on Shadow Warrior 2 will disappoint anyone hoping the game’s console ports will include HDR support.
Over the weekend, Wccf tech published snippets of a new interview with Tadeusz Zielinski, a member of Flying Wild Hog’s PR team, regarding the studio’s plans for Shadow Warrior 2 on PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One and the Xbox One S. Console ports are expected to emerge before the end of the first fiscal quarter, giving Flying Wild Hog about eight more weeks to release the project, and many fans are wondering if Shadow Warrior 2 would continue to prioritize HDR support on Sony and Microsoft’s platforms. But it sounds like Flying Wild Hog has other priorities in mind as it puts the finishing touches on Shadow Warrior 2 ’s console builds.
According to Zielinski, despite making Shadow Warrior 2 the first HDR-ready game available on PC, Flying Wild Hog doesn’t expect the game to include High Dynamic Range support on PS4 or Xbox One at launch. Similarly, while the game will include basic support for the PlayStation 4 Pro, Zielinski says the studio doesn’t have any “specific enhancements” planned for the platform. When asked why such features would be missing, he attributed the decision to unspecified “ time constraints.”
Shadow Warrior 2 is currently available on PC. The game heads to PS4 and Xbox One sometime during Q1 2017.
