'Sharknado 4' Trailer: Is This One Of Those Repetitive Jokes That Winds Up Getting Funny Again?

The first trailer for Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens is here and this surprisingly durable Syfy original movie series is looking more worn than ever. But is it possible this is one of those jokes — like Sideshow Bob and the rakes or Peter Griffin and his knee — that loops back around to funny after enough repetitions?

If so, The 4th Awakens looks to exist in that dead zone between initial laughter. We’re about three Sharknado movies away from uncomfortable, scoffing laughter and it won’t be until Sharknado XVII at least before we’re outright guffawing again.

While the Vegas setting and flying shark gags look like a series falling over in its own rut, the cast for Sharknado 4 has some nice surprises, including Gary Busey. Dog the Bounty Hunter, plus the lead singers of Slipknot and Motley Crue.
