BoJack Horseman and F Is For Family may not be the only animated Netflix Original’s much longer. The Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Groening is rumored to be working on a new animated series for the popular cord cutting platform. Details are sparse, but a report from Variety claims the TV show is set for 2 seasons consisting of 10 episodes each. Netflix has declined to comment on the rumors.
The Simpsons has been going strong for 27 seasons, all of which Groening has played a part. The Verge reports the deal with Netflix won’t affect his role at Fox for The Simpsons. Furthermore, Groening’s schedule has likely cleared up since the series finale of Futurama in 2013. Since Netflix has been working to amp up its original content offerings, hiring a legendary animation writer promises to be a step in the right direction.
F Is For Family debuted on Dec. 18. Written by comedian Bill Burr and award-winning Simpsons writer Michael Price, the animated comedy revolves around a family living in the 1970’s. BoJack Horseman, based on the 90’s sitcom Horsin' Around, has been renewed for a third season. Now a self-loathing alcoholic, the show follows Bojack as he navigates life after his career goes south. Both shows are available to stream on Netflix.
