The first expansion for Sniper Elite 4 heads to PC and consoles this week, five weeks after the stealth shooter crept onto the market back in February, featuring a combination of single- and multiplayer content for the Sniper Elite 4 community. Surprisingly, given the abundance of video content in 2017, there isn’t a trailer for the DLC. But we do know a little bit about Deathstorm.
Here’s how Rebellion describes the scenario:
Deathstorm Part 1: Inception is the opening chapter and mission in the three-part campaign, playable from start to finish for 1-2 players. Set after the events of the main game, the first chapter takes players to the colder terrain of northern Italy, and a Nazi naval base recently targeted in a bombing run.
With imposing scaffolding, a German destroyer and myriad Kriegsmarine soldiers to negotiate, Karl Fairburne must help finish what the bombing run started. But his primary mission concerns the secret Manhattan Project: To retrieve a critical, mysterious package codenamed Deathstorm…
As its name implies, tomorrow’s expansion is the first in a series that will introduce an entirely new mini-campaign to Sniper Elite 4 . We don’t know all the ground that Rebellion is looking to cover in Lt. Fairburne’s next adventure, but we’re personally hoping to see the studio set the stage for the next addition to the Sniper Elite franchise. It’s pretty common for a game’s DLC to take place after its campaign. But it doesn’t feel like nearly enough developers take advantage of the opportunity to directly connect the dots between games.
In addition to the new solo content, this week’s Sniper Elite 4 expansion will include a new map for the game’s multiplayer mode, along with a handful of other goodies that include a handful of new weapons, alternate rifle skins and new male and female characters. A new game type, Elimination, also debuts on Tuesday and will be a free download all Sniper Elite 4 players.
Sniper Elite 4 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game’s first expansion, Deathstorm, debuts Tuesday, March 21.
