The first story trailer for Sniper Elite 4 is out this week, just over two months before the game heads to PC and consoles. Lt. Karl Fairburne is going to have plenty of work to do when the Sniper Elite franchise moves from North Africa to Italy, and Rebellion wants to make sure players know what to expect when Sniper Elite 4 debuts hits PC and consoles in early 2017.

The new Sniper Elite 4 trailer is the first in a new series that Rebellion plans to roll out in the coming weeks, intended to highlight the many reasons why the studio believes Italy is the perfect setting for SE4. We already knew Fairburne would begin his tour of the Italian countryside ahead of the main Allied invasion force and that the levels in Sniper Elite 4 will be substantially larger than the environments from Sniper Elite 3. But now we’re getting some idea of what Italy looks like when the lieutenant first arrives. And things aren’t pretty.

The new Sniper Elite 4 trailer shows women waiting in lines for food rations, public executions and riots. And it’ll be Lt. Fairburne’s job to find a favorable path through the chaos. Those interested in learning more about what the series protagonist will encounter in Italy are also encourage to read a lengthy PlayStation Blog post from Sniper Elite 4 Narrative Designer Colin Harvey.

For more on Sniper Elite 4, including an early look at some of the places we’ll visit during the campaign, take a few minutes to watch the new story trailer from Rebellion. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to pick up a copy of Sniper Elite 4 when the game debuts early next year.

Sniper Elite 4 is in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game debuts Feb. 14, 2017.
