I’m a huge fan of the old Sonic The Hedgehog. By that, I mean the blue speedster that said “radical” and told kids not do drugs, not the werewolf turning, excalibur wielding, human girl kissing monstrosity we’ve gotten over the last decade. Sonic Mania is the game I’m most excited for, because it brings the hedgehog back to a simpler, better time, when platforming and gameplay melded perfectly together to make a fun game.
Sega just announced the Collector’s Edition for Sonic Mania, filled to the brim with some pretty cool stuff. Collector’s Editions have become a rite of passage in videogames, every new AAA title needs one. I have the DOOM monster statue sitting on my desk right now, and I plan to add the sleeping Last Guardian to the collection soon. Sonic’s going to stand alongside these titans on a glorious Sega Genesis.
The entire collection will cost $70 and include:
- Deluxe collector’s box
-12-inch statue with Sega startup audio
-Metallic collector’s card with Sonic Mania download key
-Sega cartridge cast with golden ring
This Collector’s Edition is only available for the XBox One and PlayStation 4, so PC players are out of luck. The collection is available to preorder on Amazon and will ship when Sonic Mania springs into action in spring 2017.
