While we knew there would be a Star Wars Battlefront DLC update today, we finally know what DICE has planned for the future of their Star Wars shooter. New maps for the Season Pass have been confirmed in a post by DICE, alongside free content that will be coming to everyone.
First off, there is free content coming Wednesday. This content is said to support Blast, Droid Run, Drop Zone, Hero Hunt and Heroes vs. Villains. These game modes now have access to the Tatooine Survival map, which is being renamed Raider Camp.
Also coming are the Hoth-themed outfits for Luke and Han that was teased last week. Also from the tease, private matches, daily challenges, community events and balancing tweaks are all getting included with the free update.
Even more free content is said to be coming next month as well. This free update will include a new survival mission on Hoth, a new Hoth multiplayer map that is said to support large game modes like Walker Assault and Supremacy. The Hoth map will also work with Fighter Squadron and Turning Point. Speaking of Turning Point, this February update will allow Turning Point to work on all the maps that support Walker Assault.
The free update for March will include another big map on Endor. This Endor map will work with all big game modes, including Walker Assault, Turning Point and Supremacy. Also included in the March update is another Tatooine Survival map.
As for the Season Pass paid DLC, that will begin to roll out in March. These DLC packs sound pretty awesome, and seem to be well worth the wait. The first pack is called “Outer Rim” and will be released in March. This DLC pack will feature maps in the factories on Sullust as well as a map in Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine.
The second pack, called “Bespin” will be released some time in the Summer. This will include at least one map in Cloud City, home to Lando Calrissian. The third pack will be called “Death Star” and is coming out somewhere in the Fall. Expect this pack to be filled with Death Star-themed maps.
The last pack doesn’t have a title, and isn’t expected to come out until early 2017. There’s no details on what will be coming in the fourth pack just yet, but EA says it will be sharing details in the coming months.
If you don’t have a Season Pass, they are still available to purchase. If you don’t want the Season Pass, but one of these packs sounds interesting to you, each one will be available to purchase separately.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see all the free content coming to Star Wars Battlefront? Are you more interested in seeing what other DLC plans DICE has? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
