Earlier this month, our very own Fionna Agomuoh reported that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7, codenamed "Project Lucky" for the lucky number seven, would feature a number of Android-leading specs including an Exynos 88910 chip clocking in at 2.3GHz, 3GB RAM, and pack additional high-end hardware including a 20MP ISOCELL Camera. Now, PhoneArena has recently reported additional spec rumors that truly differentiate the upcoming Galaxy S7 from the rest.

According to PhoneArena, the new Samsung Galaxy S7 will build upon the attention to build quality found in the S6, which was the first Galaxy phone introduced with a glass-metal unibody design. Now, South Korean media report the new Galaxy S7 will feature a magnesium alloy unibody structure.

As top-tier smartphones fight to gain customers by introducing visually appealing designs that highlight fit, finish, thickness, and design, both Samsung and Apple are pushing the material engineering envelope. Earlier this month, Apple's new iPhone 6s boasted a tough 7000 series aluminum body, the strongest aluminum ever used for a smartphone. Now, Samsung's new magnesium alloy design promises to be even tougher than Apple's choice of aluminum. What's more, magnesium stands to be lighter too.

Stay tuned as we expect to learn more about the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the coming months ahead. Speculators believe the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 release date could be as early as Feb. 2016, coinciding with the World Mobile Congress, which takes place Feb. 22 to 25, 2016.
