HBO released a quiverfull (not this kind) of new photos from Game of Thrones Season 6. Minor spoilers are involved. One of the photos released, captioned “Isaac Hempstead-Wright as Bran Stark and Max von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven,” would seem to show a very surprising plot twist indeed: is that Bran Stark… STANDING? Wtf. No. No freaking way. No way is my boy using those legs after falling from that big ass tower. NO.
Yes, it looks like the Three-Eyed Raven magically healed Bran Stark’s legs with magic tree goo and then whisked him away on a fairy dust cloud back to Winterfell, where he can live happily ever after. Wait, but didn’t Mr. Raven already tell Bran in Game of Thrones Season 4 that he’d never walk again, but he’d fly, or some such cryptic frippery?
The most likely answer is that the Three-Eyed Raven is teaching Bran Stark how to do super trippy astral projection stuff. After all, we’ve seen the Three-Eyed Raven appear to Bran in multiple guises and send the poor boy funky mega-LSD visions.
There’s some serious A Christmas Carol stuff going on here, with Bran and the Three-Eyed Raven taking a cosmic jaunt through time and space, checking out the past, present and future.
But one major question remains for Game of Thrones Season 6: will Bran be able to use his newfound powers to affect events in Westeros or are we seeing the birth of Westeros’ most magical voyeur?
