I’m not really in the right demographic to like Frozen as much as I do. I’m a late-20s white guy, not a child or teenager. At least I’m not a beleaguered parent, so I’ve only seen Frozen three times instead of a hundred. And I love it: I think it’s Disney’s best animated feature in many years. And so I understand that Frozen 2 has an incredible amount to live up to. The anticipation is unbelievable. And we don’t know much about it, but what we do know is… Disney’s doing everything right.
Disney’s Going To Nail The Frozen 2 Plot
Recently, Moviepilot has done a great job of tracking down every tidbit of delicious Frozen 2 information. Here are some of the best recently leaked details: First off, the actor who played Elsa as a child is coming back for Frozen 2, suggesting that we’re going to get some flashbacks to the past… including, potentially, more details about Elsa’s childhood and how her powers manifested.
The second big get that Moviepilot tracked down: Elsa is going to be a more fun person in Frozen 2, and she’s going to work more closely with Anna. This makes sense. She was, in some senses, the antagonist of Frozen—although I would never stoop to calling her the villain. But the movie was simultaneously about saving her and stopping her, lest Arendelle languish under eternal winter. Now, Elsa has come into herself, and as “Frozen Fever” shows, she’s generally doing a little better than before. That trend will continue in Frozen 2.
As for the finer details of the Frozen 2 plot, we don’t and won’t know them. The script is still being written, although the ending has been decided on. And the entire original team has come back for the sequel, both the cast and the production team (directors, songwriters, etc.). That’s proof that Disney is doing Frozen 2 the right way, as well they should… they don’t really do theatrical animated sequels. But Frozen just had to have one, and it will. And Disney is doing everything in its power to make the magic happen once again. Alas, that means the Frozen 2 release date is still a long, long way away… but it will be worth it.
