With the passing of Iwata-san , there were a lot of question marks over at Nintendo. And while Nintendo has appointed Iwata’s successor in Tatsumi Kimishima, the question of whether the Nintendo Directs will continue were still in the back of Nintendo fans’ minds.
But the video game company has issues a quick statement to IGN regarding the popular webseries that informed fans of release dates and other updates in the world of Nintendo.
“Nintendo Directs will continue," the publisher told IGN, "but we have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered.”
This brief but relieving news confirms that Nintendo will continue to bring news and connect with fans via its social media outlets like its YouTube channel.
Since the publisher left the vague IGN statement regarding the Nintendo Direct, we can only assume that Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime will spearhead future Nintendo Directs in honor of Iwata-san.
But with the recent release of every game and amiibo that is to come to markets for the rest of 2015, we may not see a new Nintendo Direct till 2016. But that’s ok, because of the Pokemon 20th Anniversary happening in 2016 and the first information regarding Nintendo’s journey into mobile gaming and its next console expected to drop in the new year.
With the time to prepare, Nintendo Directs can be bigger and better and despite doubts from some Nintendo developers, the Nintendo directs will continue and Nintendo fans should be excited.
But we want to know your thoughts on the confirmation that Nintendo Directs will continue without Iwata. Sound off in the comments section below.
