The Lake Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey
The Lake Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo

The Lake Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey is a world that’s mostly underwater. Players will have to swim and use Cappy to capture some of the aquatic life to get around

Since there are so many Power Moons in Super Mario Odyssey , we’re breaking down each Kingdom with separate guides.

Completionists will want to collect every Power Moon in every Kingdom, but it can be a bit tricky. Most of the Power Moons in each Kingdom won’t be accessible until after you complete the story. In the Lake Kingdom, you’ll only be able to obtain 33 Power Moons before beating the story, so be sure to come back when you’re done.

Power Moon #6 - On the Lakeshore

There’s a glowing spot on the ground behind the Binoculars in the first area of the Lake Kingdom. Do a ground pound and get your Power Moon.

Power Moon #7 - From the Broken Pillar

After exiting Water Plaza, head to the bottom level and swim to the right toward a broken pillar. Ground pound to uncover a Power Moon.

Power Moon #9 - Lake Gardening: Spiky Passage Seed

In Water Plaza, speak with the local on the ground floor about a lost seed. Go to the Underwater Entrance and swim through the tunnel, past the Komboo and Cheep Cheep toward a flood gate. Grab the seed, swim up the shaft and use the trampoline to exit above the flood gate. Swim across Lake Lamode with the seed and find the pot. Toss it in and come back after it has sprouted.

Power Moon #10 - Lake Kingdom Timer Challenge 1

On a small island in Lake Lamode, there’s a scarecrow. Activate it and go over the platforms until you get the Power Moon.

Power Moon #11 - Lake Kingdom Timer Challenge 2

Power Moon #14 - Taking Notes: In the Cliffside

Near the ledge in Water Plaza, there’s a trampoline that will let you reach an 8-bit pipe. Enter it and use the moving platform to grab all of the notes before time runs out.

Power Moon #16 - I Met a Lake Cheep Cheep!

Power Moon #17 - Our Secret Little Room

In the base of Water Plaza, there’s a room with a Lochlady. To get to it, you’ll need to go to the ground floor and look for a narrow hallway behind the columns. Find a door on the left and speak with her.

Power Moon #18 - Let’s Go Swimming, Captain Toad!

In the ground floor of Water Plaza Captain, you’ll find Toad at the bottom of the hole. Capture a Cheep Cheep and swim down to the bottom of the hold to find Captain Toad. He’ll give you a Power Moon.

On the south side of Lake Lamode, the boulder blocking the red door disappears after you defeat Rango. Enter it, capture the left-hand piece of the stone and flip it around the platform until it’s oriented next to the non-broken piece. Fix the statue and you’ll be rewarded with a Power Moon.

Power Moon #21 - I Feel Underdressed

On the second floor of Water Plaza (after defeating Bowser and you have the Swim Outfit on), speak with the Lochlady near the locked door to enter the room. Toss Cappy at the dress in the back of the room and hold to make it spin. You’ll uncover a Power Moon.

Power Moon #22 - Unzip the Chasm

On the rock wall just outside Water Plaza’s dome, there is a small zipper you can unzip. Enter the red door that appears and unzip another panel in the next room filled with mini Goombas. Use the T-Shaped panel to go to the L-Shaped panel and grab the key. Unzip the floor where Goombas are to drop them. Go back when the Goombas are gone to get yourself the Power Moon.

Power Moon #23 - Super-Secret Zipper

In the same area as #22, unzip the T-Shaped panel and look for the stair-shaped ledge across the gap. Throw Cappy to uncover a line of invisible blocks. Unzip the large Zipper to drop the wall, allowing you to walk across and grab the smaller zipper. Capture the zipper and fall to the secret area with the Power Moon.

Power Moon #24 - Jump, Grab, Cling, and Climb

Get to the roof of the Water Plaza and use the trampolines to reach a red door on the cliff. Enter the room and use the trampolines to reach the yellow ledges. Then go across them to the moving blocks.

After getting past a few Fuzzies, open the trampoline on the ledge below and use it to bounce on the columns. Slide down the wall between the next group of Fuzzies and make your way to the right to find more Fuzzies. Avoid these guys until you make it to the upper level where you can use the trampolines to get the Power Moon.

Power Moon #25 - Jump, Grab, and Climb Some More

In the same area as #24, when you reach the moving wall with the ledge that goes above the Fuzzies, get off the ledge and onto a red block. Ignore the trampoline near the ring and wait for the yellow wall to drop so you can step on it. The wall will rise again, taking Mario with it, to another Power Moon.

Power Moon #26 - Secret Path to Lake Lamode!

Go to the Seaside Kingdom and head to the bottom of Bubblaine Tower after defeating the boss. Swim to any of the geysers aimed into the tower and leap into it. It will shoot Mario to the tower, where you can swim to the bottom and enter the Warp Painting.

Power Moon #39 - Love by the Lake

In the Courtyard, capture a Goomba and go down the stairs toward the beach where the Odyssey is. Guide the Goomba toward the back of the Odyssey where the Goombette is waiting, but don’t touch the water.

Power Moon #40 - Lake Kingdom Master Cup

Go back to the Koopa near the Odyssey to start the second race. This time, head toward the binoculars and triple jump across the hill to reach the wall near the Goombas. Dive jump into a tackle jump into the Courtyard, then hurry across Lake Lamode to the trampoline near the roof of Water Plaza. Dive jump and tackle jump across the path leading to Water Plaza Terrace to win the race and earn a Power Moon.

Power Moon #41 - Waves of Poison: Hoppin’ Over

Enter the moon pipe near the Odyssey to access a new level where waves of poison will sweep across the area. Capture a frog and leap across the islands. You can hop over the waves, so be sure to take your time.

Power Moon #42 - Waves of Poison: Hop to It!

In the same area as #41, when you reach the final area you’ll see a key in the distance. Leap in place to get to the key platform and you’ll receive a Power Moon.

REVIEW SUMMARY
Super Mario Odyssey
10.0
Charming, Fun And The Best Game Of 2017
The Nintendo Switch title has slick controls, amazing visuals and a charm (there’s that word again) that I haven't come across before. The story is simple but supplemented with a large cast of new characters and worlds that expand the Mario Universe in a way that, hopefully, Nintendo can expand on for years to come. It’s accessible for younger players and challenging enough for veterans.
  • Visually pleasing
  • Great Story
  • Controls are amazing and uses Switch motion controls the best
  • Great new characters and environments
  • Could be more difficult
  • Camera angles can get annoying
