The CW has released another trailer for Supergirl Season 2 Episode 1, ‘The Adventures of Supergirl.’ There’s been an explosion on an aircraft carrying 200 people. It’s barreling toward the ground. A newscaster in Metropolis calls for Superman, and the National City press calls for Supergirl. Clark, who just got off the phone with his hard-nosed boss, runs down the street and tears off his collared white shirt, leaping into the sky. That’s when Supergirl bursts out of her new office window. She arrives on scene first, slowing down the nose-diving plane at the front, while Superman blows wind under the back to redirect the craft upward. The two Kryptonian heroes then guide the plane to safety.
Until now, fans thought it would be Metallo or Mon-El’s presence that brought Superman to National City. Both new characters are set to appear in the premiere episode.
Equal parts man and machine, Metallo is often depicted as a Cyborg. His robotic body and cybernetic enhancements are powered by Kryptonite, which gives him superhuman strength and speed. Considering he’s a classic Superman villain and Supergirl hasn’t had too many years training to go up against such a foe, it’s only right Superman is there to help.
Mon-El, a Daxamite with similar powers to Superman and Superboy in the comics, is the character inside the Kryptonian pod that crash landed on Earth. Clark will probably want to investigate this mysterious appearance first-hand, but ultimately it will probably be Kara who takes the reins as his mentor.
Supergirl Season 2 premieres Oct. 10.
