We’ve heard a lot of casting announcements for Supergirl Season 2, but not much by way of villains. Synopses reveal Supergirl will face Metallo early in Season 2 and a supervillainess resembling Roulette showed up in set photos last month. However, Roulette and Metallo seem more like villains of the week instead of season long baddies.
YVRshoots captured photos of Lachman wearing a red slitted dress with a dragon tattoo down her leg, which strongly resembles the DC supervillainess, Roulette. The scene took place at a police station. Floriana Lima’s character, detective Maggie Sawyer, was seen walking with Lachman before heading to DEO headquarters to meet Kara’s sister, Alex.Roulette is one of the Justice League’s archenemies. She runs a casino for supervillains that has a gladiatorial arena where superheroes are forced to fight each other. She has no superpowers, but she’s a genius at calculating odds.
John Corben, Metallo’s alter-ego, is an international assassin who will cross paths with Superman and Supergirl. A battle ensues; obviously the two heroes win and Corben gets injured. Then, he “is reborn by a shadow organization into the Kryptonite-powered super villain Metallo,” Entertainment Weekly reports. Equal parts man and machine, Metallo is often depicted as a Cyborg. His robotic body and cybernetic enhancements are powered by Kryptonite, which gives him superhuman strength and speed.
This “shadow organization” could be Project Cadmus. They’re certainly a villainous institution to watch, especially considering comments from Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg.
“They’re the big bad of the first part of the year — a second big bad will emerge later in the year — but they’re dedicated to eradicating alien life on Earth. They’re fanatics, they’re true believers. What’s interesting about them is it’s this collection of scientists, it’s this collection of very bright, patriotic people who truly believe what they’re saying. That makes them even more dangerous, because they believe they have a point, that ever since these aliens started coming here, the Earth has become this free for all, and human beings are about to get knocked off the food chain. They don’t care that you’re wearing a cape one day, what happens when you turn around and decide I don’t want people cheering for me anymore, I want people bowing before me? So their goal is to eliminate the J’onns and the Supermans and the Supergirls of the world along with all the other evil aliens that are out there — they don’t make that distinction, which creates an interesting problem for our good guys.”
So who is this second big bad that’s going to emerge? “Dedicated to eradicating alien life on Earth” sounds kind of like The Dominators, who have just recently been revealed as the villains of the four-night crossover with Arrow, The Flash and Legends . However, Luthor Corp is always one to watch regarding Supergirl specifically. Anything even associated with Lex Luthor should always stay under suspicion.
Lena Luthor reportedly comes to National City to escape her brother’s shadow in Metropolis. She’s “sexy, smart, and determined to get what she wants.” Even if Lena Luthor herself isn’t evil, that doesn’t mean there could be something things she doesn’t know about going on at Luthor Corp. Recently released photos show Kara and Clark meeting with Lena at Luthor Corp. Do you think she’ll be a friend, or will her family company cause some problems? Let us know in the comments below.
