A while back, Ubisoft announced that online services of some games would be terminated. That was scheduled today, but only Space Junkies was affected. Don't rejoice though, because the rest would still be decommissioned and was only delayed to October 1.
In a post, the Ubisoft team revealed that decommissioning online services for its older games is something that it doesn't take lightly. However, the team shared that it remains a necessity since the technology that drove those services have become obsolete. The team added that they want players to enjoy optimal gameplay experiences without things breaking. They also wanted to make the process as seamless as possible for everyone.
There’s Still Time
Before the official decommission date arrives, players can download and keep the single-player DLC of several games on PC like:
- Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
- Assassin's Creed III (2012 release)
- Far Cry 3
- Splinter Cell Blacklist
For those who have these games on their PC, they need to activate the DLC before the decommissioning happens if they want to continue playing it. These won't be a problem for consoles. Console players can continue to download and play the same single-player DLCs even after October 1.
