Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is a card-based RPG launching on October 28. It’s going to be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. This new tabletop RPG is sure to spark the imagination of players, especially with its unique way of storytelling.
The game is being developed by the same creative team responsible for the NieR and Drakengard series. It includes:
- Creative Director Yoko Taro (Drakengard series, NieR series)
- Executive Producer Yosuke Saito (NieR series)
- Music Director Keiichi Okabe (Drakengard 3, NieR series)
- Character Designer Kimihiko Fujisaka (Drakengard series)
In the game, players experience a story in a world shrouded in mystery and guided by the Game Master, voiced in English by Todd Haberkorn. Set in a world all about swords and sorcery, it’s told through the medium of cards.
Players take on the role of a protagonist who journeys to defeat a reawakened Dragon to save the land and its people as well as get an immense reward. Joining in are Mar, a monster attached to the player for some reason, and a black witch named Melanie who appears to have a grudge against the Dragon.
Throughout the story, players must make choices and experience turn-based gameplay, much like traditional tabletop RPGs.

There’s a special bundle offered which fans of the NieR series will love. Besides the game and the Pixel Art Set DLC, it comes with seven additional DLCs all themed after NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… These are:
- Dress of the Bereft
- Swaps the costumes of the Protagonist, Mar, and Melanie to the design of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…
- Emil’s Pattern
- Swaps the reverse card design to a design resembling Emil’s clothing.
- Emil Avatar
- Swaps the player’s avatar to a design resembling Emil.
- Emil Dice
- Swaps the dice to a design adorned with Emil’s face.
- Grimoire Weiss Board
- Swaps the battle board and accessories to designs patterned after Grimoire Weiss.
- Library Desk
- Swaps the table design to resemble a certain library’s stonework.
- Devola’s Music
- Swaps the general background music to a soundtrack that brings to mind the journeys of a certain young man who fought to save his sister.
Pre-Order Offer
Fans who pre-order the game receive the Golden Dragon Pattern DLC. This one swaps the reverse card design to an original design by Kimihiko Fujisaka along with the “Traditional Avatar.” It also allows players to change the design of the game piece on the field into traditional craftwork.
A free demo of the game can now be downloaded through the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Steam. The demo shows what happened the day before the events of the game.
