Negan’s introduction in The Walking Dead season 6 was filmed two ways, according to show producer Scott Gimple . Before you panic, it has nothing to do with a particular character’s death, but rather Negan’s colorful vocabulary.
Negan drops f-bombs left and right in Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics. Cursing is a big part of his persona, so toning him down for AMC was a challenge for the show. Gimple told Entertainment Weekly they decide to shoot Negan’s introduction two ways to make sure they really nail his vulgarity.
“I’m still finishing up season 6, so there are still aspects of these questions that I’m figuring out,” Gimple said. “But I will say that my goal is for, at the very least, in some way — might not be all the time, and it might not even be directly through your TV box — that people will be able to get full-octane Negan.”
Gimple added, “I’m still playing around with it, but I will say I do have the material two ways right now. I’ll see what I can do with it. One way or another I want people to see full-octane Negan. Will I be able to shoot every scene like that? Probably not, but to tell you the truth, I think we will get as close to the version of full-octane Negan as we can through some version of the show or another.”
There’s no doubt that Negan’s introduction will mean the death of a fan-favorite The Walking Dead character. Alleged footage from The Walking Dead set featuring Negan leaked online back in November . The footage was quickly taken down, but it appeared Negan was bashing someone’s skull with his baseball bat, Lucille. Unfortunately, AMC didn’t comment on the authenticity of the video.
Still, the video bore a strong resemblance to Negan’s infamous comic book introduction. We’ll have to watch the rest of The Walking Dead season 6 to see if fans’ worst nightmare comes true.
