Michonne can’t even look at Carl talking about his father, Rick, in the later The Walking Dead Season 7 teaser.

There’s tension in the Grimes family. Carl and Michonne completely disagree with Rick’s passive approach to handling the Negan situation. They both want to fight Negan, but Rick believes they lack the strength to win.

In the teaser, Carl asks Michonne why she isn’t with his father. We don’t know where Rick is in the scene, but it’s clearly because Michonne doesn’t agree with him. Carl is frustrated and venting to Michonne, who acknowledges his feelings. However, Michonne tells Carl even if she thinks Rick is wrong, she isn’t entirely sure he is.

Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on the show, r ecently spoke to ComicBook.com about her charcter’s tense relationship with Rick. We saw just how tense it was between Rick and Michonne in The Walking Dead Season 7 episode 4. The show opened with Michonne and Rick fully-clothed with their backs to each other. Rick doesn’t even say anything to her when she leaves to their house.

"All those things are a friction point," Gurira told ComicBook.com. "When he says, 'I need the gun,’ and she says, 'What?' It's the first moment we've ever seen between the two of them where there's a touch of deceit. That is a friction moment. It's so sad. What's so sad to me is we're shooting that because you could see, she was like, ‘I'm a lie,’ and he could tell, and you just notice that hurt him to see that.”

Gurira continued, "The next moment where they discuss about the gun. The next scene where he's like, ‘Did you hide any more?’ There's that moment where she's seeing him not be sure. He knows who she has been, who she was when they first met. This is all these things that come up when there's tons of frustration, and yet, he needs her to be on his side. She tries to, by the end of that scene, you're right, she tries to, but the point of the matter is, at the end of the episode, we see her at a place where we don't know what way she is going to go next because that moment is really about that trying that she was trying to do."

Damn, our Richonne ship just came to life. Negan can’t come in and destroy that, too. The Walking Dead Season 7 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
