Fear will cause a lot of conflict in Rick’s group during The Walking Dead Season 7. The show has established it’s Negan’s world now with the death of a major cast member coming up in the series return this fall. The fear of Negan and other threats in the world is enough to cause some characters to drift apart, according to The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.
The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere will finally reveal who Negan killed during the Season 6 finale. The loss of the character will affect each member of Rick’s group differently. Before Negan came along, Rick’s group was pretty tough to take out. They’ve survived many horrible situations, but have also become blinded to the reality of the world they live in. There are some survivors out there that have experienced worse, which left them at the mercy of Negan in the Season 6 finale .
“It’ll introduce a new level of fear for these characters that hasn’t really been present since the first couple of seasons,” Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly . “That fear’s going to affect them all in different ways, but it will be pushing them apart in a lot of different ways as well, so there’s going to be a lot of division in the group and a lot of conflict.”
Now Rick’s group is vulnerable and at the mercy of something far worse than they could ever have imagined. Negan created a strong network of people by ruling over them with fear. He was able to establish multiple camps and keep his home base hidden from the rest of the communities. He’s smart, charming and ruthless when someone tries to pull one over on him. However, Negan does have a strange sense of respect for Rick. After all, Rick was the only person willing to take him down, and succeeded in taking out a number of Negan’s men.
Still, we’ll likely see a lot of members of Alexandria want to leave the community or go against Rick, who is completely broken at this point. Rick thought he was capable of protecting his own, but now he’ll have to deal with the consequences of his actions.
The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 23 on AMC.
