Looks like Negan will be unapologetically cruel in the first half of The Walking Dead Season 7. Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Negan’s plans for Rick Grimes in his crew.

According to Morgan, the showrunners really wanted to shake things up with the introduction of Negan. The Walking Dead villain will use his power over Rick, who is more vulnerable than ever after the loss of a group member.

“What you’re going to see in the first half of this season is Negan wreaking havoc,” Morgan told EW. “And some of your characters that you’ve grown to love are not going to be on the show anymore, and it’s going to end badly for them. It’s going to be a whole new beginning for The Walking Dead . Really, we’ve taken the show and just flipped it upside down. It’s a different show now. It’s going to have a different feeling. You’re going to see your favorite characters in a position that they’ve never been in before, which is super vulnerable and victimized.”

Morgan explained Negan’s introduction is a “reset on The Walking Dead world. It’s f—ing Negan’s world now.” However, don’t count Rick out just yet. The leader of Alexandria has learned how to adapt to situations. He might be down in the first half of Season 7, but Rick’s resourceful. There will be a war, and the power shift won’t last forever.

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres on Oct. 23 on AMC.
