‘Westworld’ Season 1: Why Not Just Watch It Once It’s Over?

If you’re looking for Westworld theories, this article isn’t the place for it (head over here instead). Quite the opposite: this particular writer knows nothing about Westworld. It’s a show built around theories, mysteries and surprises, hence the endless stream of speculative stories about the show. Here’s the thing, though: There’s a quick way to avoid all the suspense and find out what’s really going on in Westworld: just don’t watch it yet. Wait until the season (or the series!) is over and binge-watch it all then.

Wait Until Westworld Is Over To Watch It

Westworld is HBO’s most serious attempt to copy the success of its own Game of Thrones and that brings with it a hefty dose of mystery, drama and suspense. That’s the bread and butter of online TV writers everywhere now and they’re going to town on Westworld. As they should! It’s presumably an interesting show. But you, as a normal consumer, don’t have to participate in the noise. You can just wait until later to watch it, instead of getting caught up in Lost-style arguments about obscure clues to the plot or in arguments about whether the show is sufficiently diverse.

Netflix really nailed something when it first introduced the binge-watching model with the same-day release of House of Cards season 1. Eager fans love to watch a show all at once, rather than popping in every week for a mere hour of entertainment. We’d rather lose a whole weekend than spend an hour every Sunday watching something. HBO hasn’t experimented with the model yet, but guess what? You can still binge Westworld on HBO Go. You just have to wait until the season finishes.

For many of us, binge-watching Westworld in a month is the best course of action. It saves time and lets you enjoy the show as a united whole, without forgetting many of the most fun details. It will spare you inane theories that end up being false; you’ll only see what the show itself has to offer. If Westworld turns out to be really good throughout the whole season, you can put it at the top of your watching list. If the mysteries and suspense don’t pan out, you can avoid the show altogether and save hours upon hours of your life.

Don’t worry too much about Westworld spoilers if you don’t watch the show right away. For the moment, the show doesn’t have the profile of the truly unavoidable Game of Thrones. If you want to stay away from Westworld spoilers so you can watch the show later, it probably won’t be that difficult. And you’ll likely enjoy the show more—so give binge-watching a try.
