Last night Kanye West announced his new album is now titled WAVES after having already changed it to SWISH from his original title So Help Me God. But not everyone is happy about the Ye’s title change. Wiz Khalifa took to Twitter to address the unoriginality of the new album name, pointing out that Harlem rapper Max B should be credited for popularizing the phrase “wavy” in his music. After Wiz Khalifa tweeted, “Please don’t take the wave,” and “Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him,” Kanye quickly responded.
Ye dropped some bombs on the “We Dem Boyz” rapper in retaliation. Ye calls out Wiz, claiming he stole Kid Cudi’s style, “got trapped by a stripper” and wears “cool pants.” Kanye even calls himself an “OG” and says “you wouldn’t have a child if it wasn’t for me.” Take a look:
In a series of now deleted Tweets, here's what Kanye had to say:
Wiz keeps it PG and doesn’t respond to Kanye’s aggressive insults.
In Wiz’s defense, the title WAVES doesn’t stand out as much as SWISH. There have been countless popular songs named “Waves” in the last few years. Joey Bada$$, Mr. Probz, and Miguel have all made popular songs with the same name.
WAVES, that is if Kanye doesn’t change the name again which he probably won’t now to keep his pride, is expected to release Feb. 11.
