WWE 2K22 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. This latest addition to the WWE video game franchise features a top-to-bottom overhaul along with a redesigned engine and gameplay. It also comes with what could be the most stunning WWE 2K graphics to date. There are also intuitive and accessible controls, multiple new game modes, and an immersive presentation and camera angles throughout.
Gracing its cover is none other than Rey Mysterio, who celebrates his 20th anniversary as a WWE Superstar this year.
In a statement, Visual Concepts President Greg Thomas revealed that the last two years have been about focus and passion. He added that the game is a result of all the energy and hard work by the team in building a game that has a long and storied history.
Besides the return of some popular game modes, there are new additions:
- 2K Showcase Starring Rey Mysterio
- Players get to relive the iconic moments behind Mysterio’s most famous matches spanning his 20-year WWE career and beyond.
- There are documentary-style interviews with Mysterio framing each match.
- The new Slingshot Tech allows for a seamless transition from gameplay to live-action footage as players complete objectives to live out some of his most iconic historical moments.
- MyGM
- This is a fan-requested mode where players select one of five GMs or create their own.
- As GM, they get to draft a roster, manage budgets, sign free agents, choose various match types, arena locations, production elements, and more.
- The goal is to beat a rival GM in weekly rating battles and culminate at WrestleMania.
- MyFACTION
- This is a single-player take on a classic team-building mode where players collect, manage, and upgrade an array of WWE Superstars and Legends to create their own ultimate four-person factions.
- Managers and Side Plates boost performance, while Logos, Wallpapers, and Nameplates allow for creative customization.
- MyRISE
- In this one, players can choose their own paths to superstardom
- There are unique men’s and women’s division storylines available.
- Players get to encounter an array of WWE Superstars and Legends as they embark on the journey.
