Ghost Rider is coming to 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 4!
Ghost Rider is coming to 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 4! ABC

"I didn't ask for this… this curse, but vengeance calls,” Ghost Rider says ominously in the first of four Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 promos released this week. But finally, Marvel has teased more than just Robbie Reyes. We now have our first look at Quake and a better idea of what she’s been doing on the run. In the third teaser, Quake suits up to battle Ghost Rider as the Season 4 episode 2 synopsis revealed last week.

ABC has also released an extended trailer for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 premiere episode. Agents Mack and Coulson meet May privately to discuss new information on Quake’s whereabouts. It’s clear May doesn’t want the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director to know Mack and Coulson are still searching for Quake. This probably has something do with the Sovokia Accords because May revealed the new director is ordering agents to shoot and kill if they find Quake. That’s why May gave Coulson and Mack the heads up to go after Quake first, even though they’ve officially been taken off her case.

Watch the 4 clips below:

Since Quake is known as a violent vigilante and S.H.I.E.L.D. wants to capture her, one would think she won’t be a part of the team in the same capacity she has been in the previous three seasons. Quake may have to work with Coulson from under the shadows, but this whole Ghost Rider thing is going to throw a wrench in the works. We’ll first meet Robbie Reyes in the premiere episode, ‘The Ghost.’ It’s unclear what he’ll be doing or what kind of relationship he’ll form with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Quake.

This begs the question of whether Quake is allowed back on Team S.H.I.E.L.D. simply because they need her to fend of Ghost Rider. A batch of Season 4 photos do show Quake sitting alongside the rest of the team in the Zephyr. It remains to be seen whether Ghost Rider will be more of a villain or anti-hero who eventually works with S.H.I.E.L.D., but Clark Gregg assures fans he’ll definitely be the ‘villain from hell’ at first.

“He’s a different kind of threat than anything we’ve faced before,” Gregg told Entertainment Weekly. “It introduces a part of the Marvel world that deals more with strange elements of the Marvel Universe and he’s definitely the villain from hell.”

Any predictions? Let us know in the comments below. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres Sept. 20 at 10 p.m. For now, enjoy this incredibly freaky GIF of Ghost Rider.
