Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 is doing its own spin on Ghost Rider, but if the latest clip and headshot are any indication, his costume is staying true to the comics. ABC has released a few teasers of Robbie Reyes, but none have showed him in full, fiery Ghost Rider form. That is, until now…
The first clip shows Ghost Rider’s car, which we did get a glimpse at in a clip last week in the form of bystander cell phone footage. But now his whip is pictured in HD quality, tires full a’blaze and all. There’s also a photo of Ghost Rider with his skull on fire and embers for eyes. Pretty darn freaky looking, even more intimidating than Hive, whose true form was revealed last season.
The synopsis for Season 4 episode 2,’Meet the Boss,’ blatantly reveals Quake will battle Ghost Rider. How the two will come into contact with each other is still unclear considering last we saw Daisy she was on a solo vigilante run with Mack and Agent Coulson chasing after her. Does this mean she’ll be back on Team S.H.I.E.L.D. by then?
Who will come out on top is anyone's guess. Ghost Rider is a force to be reckoned with and the synopsis teases the battle will come “at a terrible cost.” Maybe Daisy goes after Robbie Reyes to prevent him from being taken in by the government because of the Sokovia Accords? Ghost Rider has reckless methods, but Robbie ultimately aims to rid Los Angeles of gangs. He, like Daisy, may be publicly mistaken as a villain by the media. Robbie and Daisy have a lot in common, especially considering their rough childhoods, so the two could end up forming quite a strong bond throughout the season.
We’ll presumably first meet Robbie Reyes in the premiere episode titled ‘The Ghost.’ Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 premieres Sept. 20.
