We’re almost four episodes into Arrow Season 5 and there’s a lot of people who still think Ragman is Prometheus, including various media outlets. Rick Gonzales, who plays Wild Dog on Arrow, recently tweeted out a photo from the Invasion! crossover set picturing The Flash, Supergirl and Team Arrow 2.0. Many fans and news outlets started speculating why Prometheus was standing next to The Flash. Well, the simple answer is: it’s actually Ragman.
The confusion isn’t for nothing. There is a small resemblance between the two characters. However, if you look closely their costumes are completely different. Not to mention, the setting of the picture is a clear giveaway. We’ve seen Prometheus on screen for less than a minute – why would the mysterious villain stand next to the group of heroes?
The confusion started all the way back in July around the time of San Diego Comic Con. With Flashpoint and Arrow villain hype in full force, fans confused Ragman for Prometheus in a few teasers before Joe Dinicol was announced as the character. Even after, it was hard to tell the hero from the villain considering there was no clear indication whose suit was whose.
Although, if you're familiar with the comics, you probably won’t confuse the two. Firstly, Ragman’s rags are green. And say what you want about the similarities to Prometheus, but Ragman’s suit looks pretty much the same as it does in the comics. Prometheus has no roots in the comics, so the nearly identical mask choice is odd. Even so, Prometheus’ quiver, sword, and leather suit is a clear identifier.
I’d actually say Prometheus’ suit looks more like The Dark Archer’s. In fact, it’s a perfect blend between Green Arrow and Malcolm Merlyn's suit. The form-fitting black leather is just like Green Arrow’s and the quiver, various utility belts, and swords resemble Merlyn as the Dark Archer.
Now when Green Arrow, Ragman, Malcolm Merlyn and Prometheus are all on screen together, you’ll know who’s who. Ragman = good guy. Prometheus = bad guy.
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 pm on The CW.
