Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is launching Season 2 tomorrow. It also signals the start of Free Access Week where everyone can play a selection of Zombies and multiplayer content. With this promo running until March 4, this is clearly a good week for those who want to give the game a try.
Bring in the Zombies
Zombies were added to the game and expanded on the original Aether story. Instead of the usual predefined characters, players take on the role of Operators from multiplayer and are also part of a team called Requiem.
Among many maps, first-time players can try out the new map Firebase Z released early this month. Here, players are taken to the jungles of Vietnam to learn more about what secrets Outpost 25 is hiding.
Those who try out the Free Access Week can also experience the latest offering in Outbreak. Players now go to Russia where the largest Dark Aether outbreak zone has been discovered. In Outbreak, players are treated to a rather extensive landscape with lots of undead, new enemies, and hidden loot chests. Read more about the Outbreak experience here.
Multiplayer Fun
First-time players also get treated to the multiplayer experience. In fact, they can even try the new Apocalypse 24/7 playlist which includes Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and even Hardpoint modes. For the Apocalypse map, the fight is on a jungle cartel base that not only has a temple fortress but also many stilted buildings to chase enemies through.
Gun Game, meanwhile, is a mode where Operators are tested for their gun skills in a free-for-all battle. Everyone starts with a pistol which then progresses through a predetermined set of weapons and ending with the Knife.
Free Access Week also offers new players 2v2 battle with Gunfight Blueprints. Then, there’s the 3v3 Face Off playlist.
Double the Fun
There’s another reason why this is a good week to give the game a go. Besides the Free Access Week, first-time players are also treated to Double XP and Double Weapon XP during the weekend. It starts on February 26 and ends on March 1.
