The world economy might be having a tough time due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. But things have been looking good for the gaming industry, with more and more people buying video games and gaming hardware. Some of the blame can be directed toward the launch of new graphics cards and next-gen consoles.
Many video game titles are also having a good time, especially Call of Duty. NPD Group just released the list of top 20 selling games of January and it has some surprises for us. The latest COD game Black Ops Cold War is the best-selling game for the month, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) landed at the eighth spot.
2020’s most anticipated game, Cyberpunk 2077, took a massive hit from the 2nd spot in December to being 18th in January. I guess people were really put off by the technical issues plaguing the game.
Keep in mind that the list is not 100% accurate. Digital sales of several of the games are not accounted for as many publishers refuse to share the data.
