Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies came to a close with the release of the Retribution DLC last month, but Infinity Ward Zombies Director Lee Ross recently posted a quick Twitter tease to get franchise fans excited.

“Friday, Oct. 13 sounds like one hell of a day to kick off some all new Zombies-related festivities,” he told his 34,000 followers. We’re left to speculate as to precisely what Ross might mean.

As far as 2016’s game is concerned, we see a few possibilities. After all, since Friday the 13th is the national day of bad luck and horror icon Jason Voorhees, we could definitely see the mask-wearing monster finding his way into the Rave In The Redwoods map. That chapter was specifically designed to pay homage to ‘80s slasher films, and a boss called Slasher has already been created. It’d be pretty cool to see a character that more closely resembles Jason briefly invading our co-op runs.

Beyond simply featuring Jason, it’s possible he could be involved with a brand new Easter egg on the Rave map too. Especially considering the Retribution DLC is expected to drop on Xbox One and PC around Oct. 13, it’d be a pretty great excuse to drop new content across all platforms.

With a new Call Of Duty game on the horizon, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Ross might be quietly teasing a Nazi Zombies update from his colleagues at Sledgehammer Games as well. While we got a brief introduction to WWII’s co-op mode at San Diego Comic-Con in July, there’s still a ton we don’t know about it. More specifically, there have been no gameplay or map reveals just a handful of weeks before launch. The source tweet does reference the start of “all new” festivities, so that possibly hints at something for a new game as opposed to an update for an old one.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare ’s Retribution DLC launched Sept. 12 on PS4 and will likely come to Xbox One and PC roughly one month after that date. The expansion features the Beast From Beyond Zombies chapter that takes co-op quartets to the depths of space. As with any Zombies chapter, its conclusion does leave a few unanswered questions. Might Oct. 13 be the day for resolution?

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

What Zombies news are you expecting on Oct. 13? Will we get more Infinite Warfare Zombies, or is this reveal focused on Nazi Zombies instead? Tell us in the comments section!

‘Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ Review: The Shooter To Skip This Holiday Season
The rise of new properties, like Titanfall and Overwatch, combined with resurgent properties, like Destiny or Battlefield, make it hard to justify the shrinking number of new ideas in Call of Duty. Those who purchased Infinite Warfare on day one may not relate to anything in this article. But those with less fondness for the franchise, or just expecting COD:IW to at least match the quality of Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 3, should probably turn their attention elsewhere.
  • Cool weapons
  • A decent campaign story
  • Zombies is as fun and weird as ever
  • Multiplayer is too much of a grind for good weapons
  • There's not much originality in the entire package.
