Call Of Duty: WWII entered open beta on PC Thursday afternoon , and fans have found a bugged menu that might reveal unannounced modes, maps and features. The screenshots, embedded below, were shared by reddit’s trevormine. Here’s what the evidence tells us.
Bugged Leaked Content?
MAPS
In addition to Pointe Du Hoc, Ardennes, Gibraltar, Flak Tower and Aachen, data strings exist for other maps with the following experimental names:
- MAPUI_BATTLESHIP
- MAPUI_CANNON_FARM
- MAPUI_CARENTAN
- MAPUI_FRANCE_VILLAGE
- MAPUI_LONDON
In short, the menu may reveal Call Of Duty: WWII launches with a total of 10 multiplayer maps. While the content on display appears unfinished, assuming it’s genuine, 10 is a round enough number to feel right. It’s also worth noting sa map on a battleship has been teased by Sledgehammer staff before. This leak could easily be capitalizing on those prior statements, however.
MODES
Similar to the above map list, we also have a solid idea of Call Of Duty: WWII’s mode selection options. Lots of favorites return, and one name on the roster is particularly interesting:
- Team Deathmatch
- War
- Domination
- Hardpoint
- Capture The Flag
- Search And Destroy
- Kill Confirmed
- Free-For-All
- Gridiron
Gridiron appears to be a retro take on the Uplink mode that first appeared in Sledgehammer’s last game, Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It’s essentially basketball, where teams take a drone to the enemy’s spawn point. Throwing the drone in the goal offers one point, a dunk is worth two. Matches end at 20 points. For WWII’s Gridiron, the idea is basically the same except the goals are on the ground instead of in the air.
FEATURES
Screenshots from the menu could confirm the following features:
- GameBattles: eSports features for those interested in the Call Of Duty World League
- Combat Records: The feature debuted in Call Of Duty: Black Ops and has been a franchise staple ever since. As its name implies, the menu keeps track of your online career stats, Scorestreaks and the medals you’ve earned.
Call Of Duty: WWII is in open beta now and until Oct. 2. Those who aren’t data mining for leaks can play multiplayer maps across four standard modes. If you want something new, there’s also Operation Breakout from the objective-based War mode. Read our impressions of last month’s PS4 Private Beta here.
Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3.
