In a brief report shared on the CD Projekt Red, the Polish developer confirmed that its sci-fi action RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will be reinstated on the PlayStation Store effective June 21, 2021.
Cyberpunk 2077 was removed by Sony from the PS Store following the game's disappointing release on the last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One included. On the other hand, Microsoft had put up a warning statement against the game's title on its official Store to alert players of underperformance. Most of us believed that the game may never return on PS4, however, it seems that the developer may have fixed the performance issues and bugs that plagued the originally released game, therefore, making it fit to be released on older consoles.
Gamers had high expectations from Cyberpunk 2077 as it was developed by the same creators of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. When Cyberpunk 2077 was released at the same time as the next-gen console launch, it was expected to meet quality expectations. After multiple delays, the game was finally in store and available to purchase. The product enraged the gaming community and users shared clips online showcasing various issues that they had to face while playing Cyberpunk 2077.
Following the game's release, CD Projekt Red assured the fans of multiple updates to fix the game and as well as refunds. This statement led gamers to request refunds on the digital version of the game in both PlayStation and Microsoft Stores, which led to the game being delisted from the PS Store.
Recently, CD Projekt Red also became the victim of a ransomware attack, which was claimed to have resulted in the stolen source code of Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3. Now, the company is stating that further stolen information, including employee data, has been circulating online. The company is working with experts and law enforcement agencies to resolve the security breach.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PC, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia.
