Electronic Arts announced that there will be a major gameplay overhaul coming to "EA Sports FC 25" this week.

The update is said to be the game's "most significant mid-season gameplay overhaul" that will arrive on Jan. 16, 2025. The patch would include dozens of major changes to various aspects of "EA Sports FC 25."

Major Gameplay Overhaul

The studio said that players can expect to see many changes to "core gameplay systems," such as shooting, passing, defending, and goalkeeping.

The changes to gameplay fluidity will supposedly let players move the ball much better. There will also be reduced tacklebacks and AI interceptions.

Electronic Arts also addressed various player concerns, such as defenders catching up to dribblers more often than not, according to the Video Games Chronicle. Fans can check out everything that is included in the overhaul via the official website for the game.

Some of the changes being made to "EA Sports FC 25" include improved AI teammate attacking run quality when trying to beat the offside lane. Now, AI teammates can better hold their runs when near the line and are able to get back onside much faster.

Electronic Arts also increased the intelligence of attacking and supporting runs that AI teammates make. The overhaul features improved effectiveness of Inside and Advance Forwards.

Various Changes and Adjustments

When it comes to reducing tacklebacks, the overhaul will make defenders with the Anticipate PlayStyle more likely to tackle the ball towards a teammate who has more space. This is done if stopping the ball in place would be considered disadvantageous.

The update will also slightly increase the speed of normal Ground Passes, increase the accuracy of short Ground Passes to open players, and significantly increase the effectiveness of Semi Assisted Through Passes, Insider Gaming said.

Additionally, it will also reduce the effectiveness of first-time Lofted Through Passes while increasing the effectiveness of Semi Assisted Through Passes. The patch will moderately reduce the accuracy of headed passes in contested situations.

On top of the gameplay changes, Electronic Arts is also updating how Rush Clubs search works in FUT. After the update, players will be able to search for Player Items by selecting the current Rush Point Bonus requirement.

The studio also gave a few examples of this, such as if there is a minimum 75 DEF requirement, selecting it will result in five search results with applicable Player Items. Another one is if you don't have five Player Items, the result will only show the top Player Items, according to Newsweek.
