Fresh off a win at the NAVGTR Awards, Elden Ring is adding another feather in its cap with its latest milestone. Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware announced that the game has sold more than 20 million units around the world.
Elden Ring was released in February last year and since then, has not only been welcomed by many players but also received critical acclaim. As of January 2023, the game has been considered to be the most GOTY awarded game in history. It's safe to say that it dominated the video game awards scene in 2022. Most recently, the game took home Game of the Year at the NAVGTR Awards.
Elden Ring is set in the Lands Between that was once ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal. She acts as the keeper of the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree. One day, the Queen shatters the Elden Ring and disappears, causing her demigod children to fight over the different pieces of the ring. Each demigod has in their possession a shard of the ring called the Great Rune which sadly corrupts them with power.
In the game, the player takes on the role of a Tarnished, one of a group of exiles from the Lands Between. As one of the Tarnished, they need to travel across the realm to repair the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord.
