Fallout: New Orleans could be the next game in the Fallout series, if trademark filings are to be believed. As found on the European Union Intellectual Property Office website, a logo has been trademarked for the potential upcoming game.

Before we start speculating on what this could be for, let us step back and analyze if this isn’t some kind of hoax. To start, the logo looks pretty lame. There’s no stylization on the “New Orleans” part. You’d figure if this was the logo to a new game, there would be some kind of effort put in.

Second, it’s not really in-line with Fallout games to refer to a location as it’s actual name. Las Vegas became New Vegas, Massachusetts is The Commonwealth, Bar Harbor became Far Harbor and so on. Having a game set in “New Orleans” doesn’t make as much sense as if it were called “New New Orleans” or “Lost Orleans” or something.

However, if this filing is real, it could be pointing at a non-Bethesda Fallout game. We’ve seen Obsidian work wonders on Fallout: New Vegas, and the thought of the studio getting to use the same tools as Fallout 4 for something new certainly is exciting.

A Fallout game set in New Orleans could also be interesting. The idea of crawling through creepy swamps with mutated alligators sound horrifying (in a good way), and a twist of mardi gras culture would be fascinating to see develop in a post-apocalyptic world.

All that being said, don’t get your hopes up on this being real unless we hear any official word from Bethesda. It seems making fake reveals for Bethesda games is still as popular as ever.

So what do you think? Are you hyped for a potential new Fallout game? Do you think this is a fake? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
