The Flash Season 3 has had a few villains of the week, but mostly dealt with the consequences of Flashpoint so far. But that’s about to change. Things are heating up with Alchemy, a mysterious big bad who's been recruiting those who were metahumans in the Flashpoint timeline, luring them into his agenda by giving them their powers back. His next victim could be Wally West, who has been having weird dreams just like The Rival and Magenta did before they were brainwashed by Alchemy. Photos for the next episode reveal Wally and Joe will come face to face with Alchemy, but the circumstances of the meeting remain unclear.
While we may know this villain’s agenda, his true identity is unknown. The rumor mill is still hoping for Barry’s coworker, Julian Dorn, to be the man behind all these shenanigans. But that may be too easy for a show in it’s third season. It’s time for some new tricks, and bringing in a new character like Felton only to make him a villain seems a bit too easy. Considering Felton played Draco Malfoy, the shock value isn’t there. However, unlike Zoom last season, Alchemy’s reveal will come sooner: the midseason finale, to be exact, according to Executive Producer Greg Berlanti. This means we’ll soon know whether Dorn is a budding ally of Barry’s after they bonded over The Flash’s heroism last episode, or in fact, a season-long foe who's been tricking us all along.
In addition to Alchemy, there’s another villain on the horizon. We’ve been hearing about him (or her) ever since San Diego Comic-Con, but the speedster has yet to debut in The Flash . Savitar, the god of motion, has spent his whole life studying velocity and can manipulate the speed force in ways we’ve never seen, including the ability to create force fields and lend speed to others who have no connection to the speed force. During his quest for more speed knowledge in the comics, he aimed to defeat various incarnations of The Flash along the way, including Wally West, Jay Garrick and Jesse Quick. According to Berlanti, Savitar will show up before the crossovers, in episodes 6 and 7.
The one thing we know for sure about the two villains are that they’re products of Flashpoint, Executive Producer Aaron Helbing revealed last month. Any ideas as to who they could be, maybe even someone Barry knows already? Sound off in the comments below.
